Animals -- see the Ayershire website for details about these animals. It truely is a working farm with all that that means. Meanwhile the animals were kind enough to pose for us.
The farm has orchards and gardens that are protected from intruding wildlife by the dogs. Of course the squirrels still get away with plenty.
The beginning of the farm was the Shire Horses. Some were bought, some rescued and some born. The shires work and they are supplemented with other 4 footed friends. They have some of the loveliest pastures to play in and romp over. The colts are about 5-6 months old. We had arrived just before the annual horse sale so some 20 or so horses were being made ready for possible sale.
There are 3 kinds of cattle - the Highland cattle, Ancient White Park cattle, and Dairy cattle. Then there are the Spotted hogs, and sheep.
The farm also raises chickens for food and eggs, and turkeys.
